RNI(Redwood Neuroscience Institute),全称红杉神经科学研究院,是由
杰夫·霍金斯于2002年4月在美国
门洛帕克创立的非营利性研究机构。该机构专注于大脑新皮层理论及丘脑-皮质系统理论框架研究,提出分层式即时记忆(HTM)理论,认为大脑皮层通过序列信息学习建立感知-动作模型。研究团队由首席研究员、博士后及学生构成,通过研讨会、
斯坦福客座讲座等活动促进学术交流。
RNI was a private, non-profit research institute located in Menlo Park, founded by Jeff Hawkins in April 2002. The goal of RNI was to develop a theoretical framework for the thalamo-cortical system. Its staff consisted of principal investigators, postdocs, and students who worked closely together and shared this common vision. It fostered a vibrant intellectual environment that lead to the development of many new ideas. RNI also sponsored a weekly seminar series,
as well as a guest speaker series at Stanford and occasional symposia.
On July 1, 2005, the Redwood Neuroscience Institute moved from its location in Menlo Park to a new home on the UC Berkeley campus. It will now take on a new name, The Redwood Center for Theoretical Neuroscience, and it will be administered through the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute at UC Berkeley.
RNI相当于传统使用的
膳食营养素参考摄入量(RDA),是可以满足某一特定性别、年龄及生理状况群体中绝大多数(97%~98%)
个体需要的摄入水平。长期摄入RNI水平,可以保证组织中有适当的储备。
RNI是以EAR为基础制定的,如果已知EAR的
标准差,则RNI=EAR+2
SD(标准差),如果EAR的变量不足以计算SD时,可假设10%EAR=1SD,则RNI=1.2EAR。
一个群体的平均摄入量达到RNI水平时,人群中有缺乏可能的个体仅占2%-3%,也就是绝大多数的个体都没有发生缺乏症的危险,所以也把RNI称作“安全摄入量”。摄入量超过“安全摄入量”并不表示有什么风险。
